Connecting Pipedrive
Why Atom needs your CRM, how to connect it with your API token, and how to mark people Atom must never contact.
Atom reads your CRM so it never cold emails your existing customers or anyone with an open deal. Connecting it is one of the first steps.
Connect
- In Pipedrive, open your profile menu (top right), then Personal preferences, then API, and copy your personal API token.
- In Atom, open Connections, then Pipedrive settings, paste the token and select Check and connect. Only owners can do this.
- Atom checks the token works, finds your Pipedrive account, and stores the token encrypted for your company only. It is never shown again.
- Atom then reads your customers and open deals, and does so again every night.
If Pipedrive stops accepting the token (for example because it was changed), Atom tells you in Needs you and stops sending until you reconnect with the new one, because it can no longer be sure who your customers are.
People you never want contacted
Pipedrive has no standard "do not contact" setting, so you choose which person labels mean it.
- In Pipedrive, label the people you never want Atom to email (for example "Do not contact").
- In Atom, open Pipedrive settings, tick those labels under Which labels mean "do not contact"?, and save.
Atom never emails anyone with those labels. Existing customers and open deals are always excluded, whatever you tick.
What Atom imports
- Organisations with a won deal are treated as existing customers.
- People and organisations with an open deal are excluded.
- People with your do not contact label are excluded.
Atom checks these again just before every email, so a deal opened this morning is respected this afternoon.
Atom's work in Pipedrive
While logging is on (it is unless you turn it off), every email Atom sends, every reply it receives and every meeting it books is added to the person in Pipedrive as an activity. If the person is not in Pipedrive yet, Atom adds them and their organisation. A booked meeting also creates a lead. Turn logging off or on at the bottom of the Pipedrive page.
